A Study on Changing Patterns of Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia

Abstract
113 neonates with jaundice in Chungnam University Hospital during the period of 8 months from January to August, 1994, was analyzed retrospectively on changing patterns of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia by phototherapy.
@ES The results were as follows :
@EN 1. The rate of neonatal jaundice was higher in prematurity and low birth weight infants.
2. Onset of jaundice was 1st day the most in about 34%, 3 rd day in 20%, and 4th day in 19% of case.
3. Rate of severe increased group above 20.1mg/dl of serum bilirubin concentration encountered in 11% of cases.
4. There was a significant difference of jaundice between 1st and 5th day of age.
5. Initial mean bilirubin concentration was 15.7¡¾1.42mg/dl.
6. Decreasing rate of serum bilirubin concentration by phototherapy was higher in group with high level than in low level of bilirubin, and higher in 5th day than 1st day of age.
